Instructions

  1. Connecting Mode Adjustment

    • 1

Check your monitor is set to the appropriate input/output channel. The selection switch is on the back panel. Certain Tatung LCD monitors have multiple inputs with separate channels for each communicating signal, e.g. VGA, HDMI, DVI/DVI-D and S-Video. The choice of the set channel depends on the device the monitor is connecting to.

    • 2

Read the owner's manual or retrieve information online for your specific device to change the input channel accordingly. Your Tatung LCD model number is either on a sticker at the back panel or engraved/printed on the front side somewhere beside the screen.

    • 3

Make sure the connecting signal cable is attached firmly to your LCD monitor and the receiving port on the device.

Power Light Does Not Turn On

    • 4

Turn on the LCD monitor and look for the power input light. It can mean the power supply unit has failed when the power-on light is not on and your screen is completely black. It could also indicate a capacitor has stopped working and caused a fuse to blow.

    • 5

Unscrew and remove the panels on the back of your monitor. Look for a "bulging" capacitor and a blown fuse at the bottom of the compartment. The "bulging" capacitor is what it is; it had an internal explosion and usually with evidence of dried chemical liquid at the bottom of its base that leaked earlier from the inside. If you intend to replace these parts yourself, make sure to record the part numbers on the capacitor and the fuse for identical components.

    • 6

Send your LCD monitor or call a certified computer repair shop for power unit replacement if the capacitor and the fuse is not the issue. If you want to replace the power unit yourself, contact Tatung customer service or its distributors on locating a replacement power unit. Give them the model number located on the back panel or at the front side of your monitor.

    • 7

Replace the capacitors if the power-on light is blinking.

    Stuck or Dead Screen Pixel

    • 8

Download and run a pixel fixing software. Such pixel is a tiny black dot (can be other colors as well) that would not go away. It is caused by an uneven liquid distribution or transistor malfunction in the LCD screen.

    • 9

Prepare a damp lint-free cloth if you do not wish to use the software.

    • 10

Take a PDA stylus pen, household pencil or something similar that has a dull point.

    • 11

Fold the damp cloth to prevent puncturing the screen. Apply a little pressure through the folded cloth with the instrument over the stuck pixel. Do not put pressure anywhere else or you will get more stuck pixels. Your monitor must be "on" while fixing the pixel.

    • 12

Remove pressure after a few seconds, the pixel should be gone. The warmth on the cloth helps spread liquid in the LCD which has not penetrate into that pixel. This liquid in the LCD is used with your monitor's backlight allowing controlled amounts of light through to create the different colors.
