How to Use a Regular Faucet in an RV

The plumbing in a recreational vehicle, or RV, is designed to accommodate a regular household faucet, though in many cases, the RV faucet is slightly smaller to save space. RV owners sometimes decide to replace their original faucets with regular faucets bought at a hardware or building supply store. Fortunately, if your RV has a regular faucet installed, it will operate the same as a household faucet, with settings for both hot and cold water.

• Faucet connected to the RV water supply

Instructions

1. Verify that the regular faucet is attached to the RV water lines under the sink in the bathroom or kitchen, whichever is appropriate. It will be attached in the cabinet below the sink.

2. Turn on the water supply from the RV's fresh cold and hot water supplies. The shutoff valve to do this may be located under the sink cabinet or coming out of the water tanks.

3. Turn on the faucet as normal. Let it run a few minutes to make sure it is getting hot water from the water heater as well as cold water directly from the fresh water tank.

• Check for leaks in your water system periodically to prevent damage to the RV.
