Homemade Fruit Scent Potpourri thumbnail
Potpourri makes your home smell beautiful.

Potpourri is a mix of naturally scented dried ingredients used in sachets or dishes to make the home smell pleasant. Aromatic wood shavings, like cedar and juniper, are often used along with spices like clove or cinnamon and dried flowers and herbs. It's very easy to make your own potpourri by drying fruit to mix with cloves or cinnamon sticks.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose your fruit. Oranges and apples are popular in potpourri but feel free to experiment.

    • 2

Preheat your oven to 150 degrees Fahrenheit.

    • 3

Slice your fruit as thinly as possible.

    • 4

Place the sliced fruit in a single layer on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper. The paper will keep it from sticking to your pan.

    • 5

Bake your fruit at 150 degrees for about 30 minutes. The object is to remove all moisture from the fruit, not cook or burn it, so check often as different fruits will tolerate different temperatures and lengths of time.

    • 6

Mix your dried fruit with cloves, cinnamon or dried flowers and herbs and you will have a lovely fruit scented potpourri.
