      Pour an eight ounce glass of water and drink it. Repeat this every two to three hours. Add some lemon or lime juice for flavor.

      Continue eating. A water detox does not mean that you fast on only water. Avoid food that is high in saturated fat and foods that are high in salt. Foods high in saturated fat and salt will help retain water, defeating the purpose of a water detox.

      Continue this process for three to four days. Doctors do not recommend exceeding this time frame because drinking too much water can be harmful.

  • Do not be alarmed if you see a weight gain. The weight gain is from the water weight and is temporary. It will go away when you finish your water detox.

  • Increase your fiber intake by eating more servings of apples, broccoli and whole grains. This will help detox your colon at the same time.
