1
Measure the length of the house so that you know how many strings of LED lights you will need. If you have an eve that you want to outline, you will need to climb a ladder to measure this portion.
-
2
Plug each string of lights in before hanging so that you know they all work.
-
-
3
Climb a ladder at one end of the house where you want to start the lights. Have a string of lights in hand.
-
4
Slip a plastic hook clip onto the gutter at the end of the house. If you do not have guttering at this location, slip it under the shingles at the edge of the house. As far as you can reach, set more clips in place on the gutter or shingles.
-
5
Set the end of the LED light string into the first clip, and run the length of the wire down to the next clip. Set the wire in place in the second clip and continue to the next. Once you cannot reach any farther, leave the lights' wire hanging and climb down to move the ladder.
-
6
Move the ladder and climb back up. Continue placing clips and setting wire into the clip wire holders until you finish the string. Also make sure the lights are all pointing out from the house.
-
7
Plug in a new string to the end of the previous string to continue. Keep running lights until you reach the other end of the house. Make sure to tape the plugs between the strings of lights with electrical tape to keep out moisture.
-
8
Run an extension cord up the side of the house where the first string started. If possible hide the extension cord behind a down spout. Plug it into the first string and tape with electrical tape and plug the other end into the outlet.

Tips & Warnings
Be careful when working at the top of a ladder. Wear shoes with treads so you don't slip on the rungs and have someone hold the bottom of the ladder to keep it steady when you are working at the top.
