How to Use Client Certificate Authentication

Client certificate authentication encrypts all communications that flow in and out of your Exchange server. It essentially protects all your mailboxes from potential spammers and/or hackers who may try to steal your company's sensitive information like financial data and databases. You can process certificate authentication (CA) with a tool called "Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager." It is a Web server application that offers administrative functions for your Exchange server. Note that this tool is only accessible for administrators or users with administrative rights. The instructions below apply to the Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2003 operating systems.
