How to Grow Mini Calla Lilies
Mini calla lilies are colored calla lilies. While the white variety has a thick stem and can reach heights of 3 feet, colored callas tend to have a thinner stem and reach heights of 1 to 2 feet. Mini callas grow from bulbs and require the same care as the larger white variety. The plant is hardy and will survive outdoors during winter in many areas. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Select a spot for planting the bulbs after the last frost passes. The spot should have well-draining soil and receive full sunlight in the morning. Mini calla lilies prefer shade during the afternoon.
-
2
Dig up any weeds in the bed with a shovel or hoe. Lay down a 2-inch layer of organic compost and till it into the soil with a garden tiller at a depth of 6 inches.

3
Dig a hole 4 inches deep for each bulb and space the holes 1 to 2 feet apart. Lower one bulb into each hole, pointy end up. Fill in the holes with soil and water until the soil settles.
-
4
Apply one application of bulb fertilizer each month, according to the package directions. Water frequently enough to keep the soil moist to the touch. Keep the bed free from weeds by pulling up any weeds each week.
-
5
Let the plants die back to the ground during the winter. Cover the soil with a 3- to 4-inch layer of mulch to keep the bulbs out of danger from frost. Remove the mulch when the last frost passes.
