Comcast offers digital cable to subscribers, and it also offers the rental of a digital converter box. This box is usually installed by a cable technician that Comcast sends to your home, although if the need arises the digital converter box can be easily self-installed. If you own an HDTV, you can also subscribe to high-definition cable, and the digital converter box can be used to provide HD programming to the HDTV.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have subscribed to HD programming, instead of connecting another coaxial cable from the cable-out on the back of the digital converter box to the cable input on the back of the HDTV, connect an HDMI cable from the HDMI port on the back of the digital converter box to an HDMI port on the back of the HDTV.
