How to Remove the Battery From an Inspiron 1100
The battery in a Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop uses a "slice" battery that is inserted into the side of the computer. Fortunately, it is not difficult to remove and replace the battery in this kind of laptop--in fact, it only takes a few minutes.

Shut the Inspiron 1100 down through the operating system by clicking the "Start" button, and then clicking "Turn Off" or "Shut Down."

Close the lid of the Inspiron 1100. Turn the computer over so that the screen faces down. The battery is located next to the air intake fan in the corner of the computer.

Push the gray plastic tab near the Inspiron 1100 battery toward the battery symbol, and hold it in place.

Place your thumb over the textured pad on the edge of the Inspiron 1100 battery, and push gently to slide the battery out of the bay. Release the gray tab.

Slide a new battery into the empty slot in the Inspiron 1100 if desired. The gray tab clicks when the battery is inserted fully.
