How to Replace an Ignition Cylinder and Key on a 1991 Mercury Grand Marquis
Each ignition lock cylinder is designed specifically for one type of key. Replacing the cylinder in your car means also replacing the key with it, and you can only replace it with the key that comes with the cylinder. The ignition cylinder on a 1991 Mercury Grand Marquis is mounted to the steering column through a retaining pin, and it is one of the simpler types to replace in a car. Unless you can replace the door lock cylinders with duplicates of the new ignition cylinder, you will need two sets of keys for the car.
