A Whirlpool Cabrio washer is a high-efficiency, top-loading clothes washer that is designed for large loads. Features include Whirlpool's 6th Sense technology, which uses sensors to select the right amount of water and protect the load from going out of balance. As with all washing machines, you should regularly clean your Cabrio washer to ensure there's no buildup of cleaning product inside the machine and to eliminate odors. The Cabrio has a Clean Washer cycle that makes the task easy.

Step 2: Add the Cleaner

Drop one Affresh tablet into the bottom of the washing machine drum or basket. If you don't have Affresh washing machine cleaner, you can use 1 cup of liquid chlorine bleach. Pour the bleach into the machine's bleach dispenser. Do not add any detergent to the Whirlpool washer detergent tray during the cleaning cycle.

Step 3: Start the Cleaning Cycle

Close the washing machine lid. Press the Power button and then turn the cycle control knob to the Clean Washer cycle. The machine will show a 60-minute run time for the cycle. If your machine doesn't have a Clean Washer cycle, use the hottest water setting you have. Hot water helps the Affresh tablet to dissolve.

Push the Start button. Once the cycle starts, you'll hear water coming into the machine. The washer will then pause, and you'll hear the lid lock. Then, water will resume entering the machine.

Step 4: Allow the Entire Cleaning Cycle To Run

Once you start running the Clean Washer cycle, it's best to let the cycle finish without stopping the machine. If you must stop the cycle, you can do so by pushing the Power button once or by pressing the Pause/Cancel button twice.

Step 5: Run the Rinse and Spin Cycle

Run the Rinse and Spin cycle to ensure all cleaning agents are rinsed away. If you do stop the cleaning cycle, run a Rinse and Spin cycle to be sure the cleaning agents or bleach is completely removed. Once the Clean Washer cycle and additional rinse cycles are finished, lift the lid and keep it open so the machine can dry out.

Tip

Whirlpool recommends that you only use detergent that's specifically formulated for high-efficiency washers to keep your Cabrio washer fresh. High-efficiency detergents are labeled "HE."

Step 6: Clean the Exterior

You can clean up detergent spills, lint, or other dirt that accumulates on your washing machine by wiping it with a soft, damp cloth or a damp sponge. If desired, you can use a mild soap, such as a liquid dishwashing soap, to keep your washing machine looking clean and shiny. Never use abrasives on the washing machine, as they can scratch the surface.
