Operating Instructions for a GE Electric Range With Self Cleaning Oven
GE offers a variety of electric ranges from which to choose, including free-standing, slide-in and drop-in models. Most modern ovens include a self-cleaning feature. Cooktop Use

Turn on a burner by pushing the corresponding knob in at the same time as you twist it to the desired setting. If your electric cooktop features customizable burner sizes, adjust the switch or knob above the burner control knob according to the burner size you desire.

Turn on the bridge burner, if your cooktop includes this feature, by twisting the bridge burner knob to the setting you prefer.

Turn on the warming zone, if your unit includes one, by twisting the zone's knob to the setting you wish to use. Only place hot foods on the warming zone, which is located in the central part of the rear of the cooktop, to reduce the chances of a foodborne disease. Additionally, only leave foods on the warming zone for two hours or less.

Place only recommended cookware on your cooktop if it is a radiant glass model. Stainless steel, copper bottom or aluminum are best. Do not use cast iron, stoneware, glass-ceramic or porcelain enamel on steel cookware. Porcelain enamel on cast iron is only acceptable if the pan's bottom is also coated.
Oven Use

Look inside the oven before preheating it to make sure the racks are in the position you desire. Adjust them, if necessary.

Press "Bake."

Push "+" or "-" to adjust the oven temperature.

Press "Start/On." "PrE" will be displayed while the oven preheats. You will hear a beep when the oven is up to temperature, and the temperature will be displayed on the screen.

Push "Clear/Off" when you finish using the oven.
Self-clean

Take any cookware, foil, broiler pans or oven racks out of the oven.

Clean around the door gasket and front frame of the range with hot, soapy water and a plastic scouring pad. Rinse and wipe dry. Avoid cleaning the gasket.

Turn the oven light off.

Engage the door latch.

Push "Self Clean."

Push "+" or "-" to attain the desired amount of cleaning time. Normal clean time is approximately four hours, 20 minutes. You can program the oven anywhere between three and five hours.

Push "Start/On."

Disengage the door latch when the cycle is over and the oven has cooled.

Wipe any ash from the cleaning cycle away with a damp sponge.
