How to Troubleshoot an LG Refrigerator's Icemaker
Some of the more modern models of LG refrigerators include ice makers. If you are experiencing problems with your ice maker, you can run a series of tests to determine if the problem is due to an operator error or if there is a more serious problem. Some of the problems you might have could be associated with poor water flow, poor-tasting ice or freezer temperature settings. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Wait 24 hours after the refrigerator is installed for the ice maker to begin to produce ice. Wait 72 hours for the ice maker to fill up all the way. Also wait 24 hours for the ice maker to produce more ice if you have recently depleted the freezer if most of its ice supply.
-
2
Check to make sure the water valve is turned fully to the left if there is less ice being produced than you had hoped for. If the water pressure is low, the water will not properly flow into the ice maker.

3
Move the refrigerator slightly away from the wall and check the water line. Straighten the line out if it is kinked or pinched, as a pinched line will impede water flow.
-
4
Check the power switch on the ice maker. The "I" position is "On" and the "O" position is "Off." If the ice maker is turned off, slide the switch over to the "I" position.
-
5
Check the freezer temperature setting. The recommended temperature to make ice is colder than -1 degree Fahrenheit. if the temperature is warmer than this, slide the temperature control to a cooler temperature. A warmer temperature will produce ice at a slower rate.
-
6
Avoid opening the doors frequently or keeping the doors open for extended periods of time. If the doors remain opened, the temperature in the freezer increases, thus making it more difficult for the ice machine to make ice.
-
7
Check the ice bin for clumps or cubes of ice. Shake the bin or use an object to break up the clumped ice. Ice cubes have a tendency to stick together if the ice dispenser is used infrequently.
