How to Fix Fax Receipt Errors

How to Fix Fax Receipt Errors thumbnail
If your fax receipts are showing errors, there are a few methods available to correct the problem.

Fax receipt errors occur when your fax machine isn't working correctly. Typically, a fax receipt will show you that the fax went through and at what time it did so. It will also show you the number to which the fax was sent, and might have a copy of the cover letter. Fax receipt errors can be anything from the receipt failing to show up to a receipt that has the wrong information on it. Troubleshooting these errors generally takes only a few steps.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the paper tray if the fax receipt isn't printing at all or isn't printing properly. Refill the paper tray if it is empty. Adjust the paper in the tray if it is incorrectly loaded.

    • 2

Open your fax settings, either on the fax machine's display or on a computer attached to the fax machine, depending on your setup. Fax settings should include "Receipt Settings" or "Receipts" or "Fax Receipts." Click and scroll through the settings. Some faxes begin with an automatic setting of "Off" for fax receipts. Turn the setting to "On."

    • 3

Unplug the fax machine and plug it back in. Oftentimes, this will fix a glitch.

    • 4

Open "Fax Settings" if your fax receipt is printing, but has the wrong information on it. Click "Restore Factory Settings" in your "Fax Settings." Test it by sending out a fax.

Tips & Warnings

  • In Step 4, if you have changed any specific settings, you will have to input those changes again after you restore the factory settings.
