Remove all of the wax you can on the skis. Scrape it off and brush it away, leaving a nice, clean surface to work with.

    • 2

Wax the base of your skis with a warm temperature-rated wax. Warm temperature wax is generally red or yellow and made to melt under heat, allowing it to penetrate the skis. Apply a good amount over the entire ski base. Warm temperature wax can be found at sporting goods stores that sell ski and snowboard equipment. It is also available through several online retailers.

Place the skis in a hot box that is heated to 140 degrees F. Make sure that the freshly waxed bases are facing up. Let the skis sit in the hot box for six to nine hours. A hot box is often hard to find in sporting goods stores, however numerous online retailers sell hot boxes for skis. If you are a handy person, you may also consider building your own hot box.
