Maytag Dishwasher Removal and Deinstallation
Bringing home a new dishwasher can be exciting, but before you install it, you must first remove the old one. Maytag dishwashers are easy to install and remove yourself, but it's important to take the steps in the right order to minimize the chance of leaks and flooding. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions

1
Cut the power to the dishwasher at the circuit breaker or fuse box, and turn off the water supply underneath the kitchen sink.
-
2
Unplug the machine, and remove the clamps holding the inlet and drain hoses to the water supply and garbage disposal. Unscrew the hoses--keep a bucket handy in case either one contains leftover water.
-
-
3
Open the dishwasher and remove the racks by pulling them straight out and lifting up.
-
4
Remove the screws that hold the dishwasher in place. There should be three on each side, and there may be two on the top if your counters are wood. The screws are just inside the dishwasher along the rim.
-
5
Close the dishwasher and slide it out of its space. As you pull the dishwasher out, have a helper feed the water hoses and power cord through the hole in the cabinet to avoid hangups.
-
6
Unscrew the screws holding the mounting brackets into place. There will be a mounting bracket on either side, and there may be one on the top if your counters are wood. Alternatively, you may be able to use your current mounting brackets to install your new dishwasher--check your new dishwasher's owner's manual.
-
7
Tilt the dishwasher forward and lay it on its front panel. Locate the valves where the hoses attach on the underside of the machine, remove the clamps, and unscrew the hoses.
-
8
Stand the dishwasher upright, and locate the power cord attachment panel on the back side of the unit. Remove the screws that hold the cover panel in place.
-
9
Untwist the plastic wire connectors and gently tug on each wire until the power cord is detached.
-
10
Collect the racks, hoses, clamps and power cord, and place them inside the dryer for easy disposal if you are having it hauled away. If you are placing it out for garbage pickup, pack the pieces in a separate garbage bag and remove the door by unscrewing the bottom hinge.

Tips & Warnings
Dishwashers are bulky and can be difficult to move by yourself. Having a helper will make several removal steps easier.
Never attempt any removal step without first turning off the power and water supply.
