System Update is Unable to Connect to the Proxy Server

Add your proxy server as an exception to Windows Firewall.

A proxy server is used to throw a user's IP (Internet protocol) address so it cannot be traced. If you are having a hard time connecting to the Windows Update server through your proxy server, you are probably being blocked by the Windows Firewall. Because of the nature of your proxy server's purpose, Windows Firewall will block it from accessing the Microsoft server. Adding an exception to your Windows Firewall will cure this problem.

Instructions

1. Click the "Start" button and then click the "Control Panel" option.

2. Click on "Security" and then click on "Windows Firewall."

3. Click "Allow a program through Windows Firewall" in the menu.

4. Click on your proxy server from the menu that appears.

5. Click "OK" and then run your Windows Update software.
