How to Cook in a Sanyo Microwave

Microwaves were invented in 1946, but didn't hit the commercial market until 1954. The Sanyo Company, whose name means "three oceans," didn't begin producing microwaves until 1964. Today, microwave cooking is a convenience that modern families take for granted unless their microwave is not functioning. Cooking with your Sanyo microwave is simple, and it functions similarly to other microwave models on the market. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Cooking with Normal Power

      Press the "Open" button to open the door.

      Set your microwave-safe container of food into the center of the glass tray.

      Close the microwave door.

      Press "Time" and then the numbers that correspond with how long you want to cook at normal power. For example, enter two minutes as "2-0-0." Press the "Start" button. If you pressed the wrong time, press "Cancel" and then the correct time, and press "Start" again.

    Cooking with Lower Power

      Press the "Open" button to open the door.

      Set your microwave-safe container of food into the center of the glass tray.

      Close the door.

      Press "Time" and then the numbers that correspond with how long you want to cook the food, then press the "Power" button. Press the number that corresponds with the percentage of power you want. For example, press 9 for 90 percent power or press 8 for 80 percent power. Press the "Start" button.

      Use the "Weight Defrost" button, labeled "WEI. DEF" for frozen meats. Indicate the type of meat you intend to defrost, "d1" for red meats, "d2" for poultry and "d3" for seafood, then enter the weight of the meat in grams. Press the "Start" button.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use the "Express Cooking" setting to add small amounts of time to the cooking. Press the "Express" button once to add 15 seconds, press it twice to add 30 seconds, three times for one minute, and four times for two minutes.

  • Stop the microwave at any time by opening the door.

  • As with other microwaves, do not place metal or non heat-resistant glass into the microwave.
