How to Fix Cracks in a Stucco Wall

This time-consuming process is a waste of money, and is preventable if you fill in cracks early. Repairing small cracks in a stucco wall only requires one coat of stucco caulk and, thanks to the quick drying nature of the caulk itself, you can finish up the project in less than a day. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Clean out the cracks as much as possible by washing down the wall and brushing out the cracked areas after they dry.
-
2
Insert a tube of an acrylic stucco caulk into your caulk gun and liberally fill in the cracks until the caulk overflows out of them.
-
-
3
Smooth out the overflow of caulk with a finishing trowel or a putty knife. Smooth in all directions until the surface is flush with the rest of the wall.
-
4
Cover the fresh stucco with plastic and allow it to dry for three or four hours. Once it's completely dry, paint the area to match the original paint of the existing stucco finish on your house. Let the paint cover the area around the repaired crack to help blend the color in. Covering only the repair will make it stand out more from the surrounding stucco.
