How to Connect Age of Empires for Multiplayer

Connect to an Age of Empires Multiplayer session by overriding your current IP address, if you're experiencing connectivity issues. Select one of your alternative IP addresses, provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP), and enter that address in the user configuration file of Age of Empires. Remember: Connection speed and quality is determined by the multiplayer host or your ISP.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "Start" button, and then type "My Documents\My Games\Age of Empires\startup" in the Search box. Press the "Enter" key, and the Age of Empires folder displays on-screen.

    • 2

Right-click the ".cfg" file, and then select the "Open with..." option from the drop-down menu. Double-click on the "Notepad" icon, and the configuration file launches in Notepad.
