Instructions

    • 1

Cut the hook of a wire hanger with scissors or pliers. Make the cut where both sides of the hanger meet, at the twisted point, before it curves. You may need to cut up to four hangers, depending on how large or detailed you wish to make your wings.

    • 2

Form the wire hanger into your wing shape. Consider starting with a shape in the form of a capitalized letter "B" and then round it out. Other shapes include a figure eight, a circle or an oval.

    • 3

Twist the two open ends of the wire hanger together to create a full shape, if you have not already done so.

    • 4

Duct tape the ends of the wire hangers together where you twisted them. This will prevent it from untwisting.

    • 5

Cover your wire hanger shapes with stockings or pantyhose.

    • 6

Wrap tulle or ribbon over the stockings/pantyhose if you want to add a bit more flair.

    • 7

Join your wire hanger shapes together (if you have multiple shapes) by wrapping them together with ribbon or tulle. Join the two shapes together at the point where you twisted the two original ends together.

    • 8

Tie a ribbon or tulle around the center of your wings where the wire hanger shapes meet. This is the place where two hangers were joined (from step 7). Extend the ribbon or tulle into loops to wrap around your shoulders. Wrap the tulle or ribbon from the center of the hangers up around your shoulders, under your armpits, and tie it together at the center of the hangers again. Make sure to fit it to your shoulders before making the final tie and securing it in place.
