How to Clean the Shelf Slide in an Electric Oven Range
The shelf slide in an electric oven is the ridge on the side of the oven that holds the rack. Depending on the size of the oven, there may be one to three of these ridges on each side. Homeowners can easily clean this part of the oven when cleaning the rest of the oven. Using chemicals is not necessary. Baking soda will clean the oven effectively. Does this Spark an idea?

- Warm water
- 5 tablespoons baking soda
- 4 tablespoons vinegar
- 3 drops dish soap
- Bowl
- Rough sponge
- Clean cloth

Open the oven door. Remove the racks by lifting them off the shelf slides. You may need to slightly tilt the racks up and push them all the way to the back to get them off the track of the shelf.

Fill the sink with warm, soapy water, and put the racks in it to soak. If the racks are too big for the sink, soak them in the bathtub.

Mix 5 tablespoons of baking soda, 4 tablespoons of household vinegar, and 3 drops of liquid soap in a large bowl to form a paste.

Use a rough sponge to coat the shelf slides with the paste. You can also coat the bottom of the oven, or the entire interior of the oven, with the paste. Leave it on for 30 minutes, then scrub the shelves with the sponge.

Dampen a clean cloth with warm water, and wipe the interior of the oven.
