How to Restore Shine to Old Cars
Over time your car may lose its lustrous finish. Weather and other elements can destroy your paint's top coat, but you can restore your car's shine with car wax. Although waxing requires a lot of manual labor, it can save you the cost of a new paint job. Wax will also protect your car's surface from further damage.

1
Fill a bucket with warm water and a cap full of car wash.

2
Rinse the entire car with a garden hose. Remove all loose dirt by spraying it with the the hose. Use a nozzle on the end of the hose for best results.

3
Dip a large sponge into the bucket of car wash solution and then work onto your car's surface in sections. Start with the roof of the car. Rinse each section as you go to prevent soap spots.
-
4
Dry the car using a chamois.

5
Wax the car in small sections. Rub a clean, dry sponge into the car wax and then rub the wax on the vehicle. Use a clockwise circular motion to gently apply the wax. It will appear shiny when it goes on.
-
6
Remove the wax with a towel by rubbing the car's surface in a counter-clockwise, circular motion. The wax will appear to haze over. Continue working in sections until the entire car has been waxed.
