How to Enable the DDE Server

The Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) server is used to provide the environment where applications called automation controllers can access and modify automation objects exported through other applications. In order to automate an application, a developer must have knowledge of the type of object model that is utilized by the specific application exporting activation objects. Since this is near to impossible, the DDE server can help enable this. Enabling the DDE server in order to manage automation objects requires a few steps to set up.

Instructions

1. Open the "Settings" menu.

2. Click "Settings" > "View and Edit" > "DDE Server."

3. Place a check in the box next to "Enable DDE Server." You have now enabled the DDE server.
