How to Find Lost Classmates
People move, get married, join the military or fail to keep in touch with others, which makes locating classmates more difficult. Locating lost classmates is a task that requires you to have some basic information. You will need to have the person's original first and last name to begin the search for your classmate. The longer you are out of school the harder it becomes to locate them because you have been out of touch for so long. This may necessitate the use of other methods, such as hiring a private investigator or ordering public records search to locate them.

1
Review your school yearbook. If your classmate has since gotten married or you remember them by a nickname the yearbook will provide their full maiden name.
-
2
Contact your alumni association. Your alumni association may be able to provide an email address or other contact information, particularly if there has been a reunion in the past.

3
Join an online social network. MySpace, Facebook and Classmates provide means for locating old classmates. Signing up is free and settings allow users to search for others while being located themselves.
-
4
Search an online phonebook or public records database. The White Pages, People Finders or Public Records provide public information by using the first and last name of the person.
-
5
Hire a private investigator. A private investigator can use other methods not available to you because of time constraints and costs. He will be able to visit homes and ask questions to people who were related to or knew your old classmate.
