How to Spoof With Magic Jack

How to Spoof With Magic Jack thumbnail
Magic Jack replaces the need for a traditional landline phone and is much less expensive.

Magic Jack allows users to have a phone service directly from their home computer system, saving on yearly costs compared to national phone services throughout the US. If you have Magic Jack installed and you are a current customer, you can call and spoof others just as you can with other phones with a bit of instruction.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase Magic Jack at a local electronics store, department store or even online. As of 2010, if you purchase Magic Jack, you will also receive a year of free phone service. Magic Jack generally runs under $40, which equates to less than $3.50 a month for phone service, which may save you quite a bit on your monthly phone bill.

Install Magic Jack to your computer by plugging in the USB cord into an open USB slot in your computer's tower, or on the side of your laptop. A window will prompt you to set up an account with Magic Jack, requiring information so you can use the service properly. After you have plugged in the Magic Jack to your computer, plug a phone cord directly into the Magic Jack---one that is already plugged into your wall. Choose your telephone number's area code (you can choose any area code of your choice).

Dial the number you wish to spoof but enter "*67" before entering the area code and the telephone number using the Magic Jack software which opened upon plugging in your Magic Jack. This will make your number undetectable, or private, when dialing an outgoing call. Alternatively, you can set up your Magic Jack phone number to an area code out of your state as well to mask your calling location.
