1
Assess the wall to determine where you want to hang the rug. Choose a location that is long and wide enough for the rug; you don't want the rug to touch the floor. Choose an area where the rug can be centered or have equal amounts of space on the top and bottom of the wall.

2
Use a hammer to nail wall-to-wall carpet tack strips to the area you intend to hang the rug. Place the tack strips where you want the top of the rug to hang. Plan to use about four strips--two on each side of the bear head. However, if your rug seems to need extra support, use more. Position the tacks so that the nail side goes into the wall and the hook side faces outward. Be sure the hooks are pointing upward.

Pick up the rug, and place it on the hooks on the tack strips. Most bear rugs come with a felt backing; make sure the tacks only hook onto the felt and do not go through the entire rug. Adjust the rug around on the tacks until the rug looks even.

Tips & Warnings
Wall-to-wall carpet tack strips are also used to hold carpet in place. Such strips are typically available at most hardware or home improvement stores in the flooring sections.
Cut the tack strips shorter if they can be seen hanging out from under the bottom of the rug on the wall.
