Magellas MapSend maps can be downloaded to your GPS receiver.

Magellan MapSend is a free, downloadable computerized software that has street-level maps that can be downloaded to Magellan Meridian series, SporTrak Pro, SporTrak Color, SporTrak Map, Map 330M or Map 330, which are handheld receivers. The details contained in these devices include streets, rivers, lakes, coastlines, railways, parks and other points of interest. The device uses GPS technology, which maps both rural and urban areas throughout North America. The region and level of detail are options you can choose when downloading the application.

      Download the Magallan MapSend Lite program form Magellan GPS website (see Resources). Follow the instruction to load the program onto your computer. Double-click on "Magellan MapSend Lite," select "Next" and review the licensing agreement. Once you have clicked on the agree option, select "Finish" after the InstallShield Wizard Complete appears.

      Select the Magellan MapSend Lite icon, which is located on your desktop, to launch the program. Magallan will automatically search for updates every time the program is launched. The MapSend Auto Update window will appear if updates are available. Ensure that you install all new program updates before proceeding.

      Prepare your maps with the MapSend software and save them to your computer. Find the serial number on your GPS receiver by pushing "Menu" and selecting "About" from the options list. The serial number will appear on a new screen. Enter the number in the "Target GPS" area on MapSend. Select "Next" on the upload screen. MapSend will now complete a formatting process where you will be able to use the maps on your GPS device. The maps will automatically be saved to your computer.

      Transfer the saved maps to your GPS receiver by using the Magellan Conversion Manager. Select "Conversion Manager" on the desktop of your computer. Choose "Transfer Map Regions" once the dialog box appears, and click "Next." Plug your receiver into your computer, then turn it on. Set the receiver to the "File Transfer" option. Select "Next"on Conversion Manager to initiate the map search. All saved maps will be displayed on the Conversion Manager. Click on the "Check" box of all maps you want copied to the receiver and select "Next."

      Push the "Menu" option on your receiver, then select "Preferences," located on the main menu. Click on "Active Setup," which will activate the maps on the receiver. Double-click "Detail Maps" from the Active Setup menu. A detailed map folder, containing all maps that were saved on the receiver will appear. Choose a map and confirm the selection. Wait for the map to load.

Tips & Warnings

  • Choosing specific locations to download instead of maps of areas you don't need will save memory on your device. You can transfer selected data by creating a square or rectangle over the region you want to download. That section can then be deleted once you don't require it.

  • You can also create your own routes on your computer, then edit and download them to your receiver.
