How to Test Lotus Notes Email Without Emailing

An email program should enable you to send and receive messages. If you aren't sure your Lotus Notes email program is working, there are several ways, other than emailing someone else, that you can make sure it does work. That way, if there are problems with the email program, you can fix them right away.

Instructions

1. Log in to your Lotus Notes email account. If you can log in correctly without any issues or problems, you at least know that the account is set up correctly. If you can't log in, that is the first problem you will have to figure out. Contact your Internet provider or the company in charge of your email to see if there is anything you can do.

2. Send an email to yourself at your Lotus Notes email address. This is not emailing, as the email doesn't go anywhere else and you don't have to bother anyone else. But if you get the email back, you know that you are able to both send and receive emails.

3. Plug your Lotus Notes email address into an online email address tester, like those listed in Resources for you. With these testers, you'll be able to tell whether an account is working or not.
