How to Clean Aluminum Truck Rims
Dirty aluminum truck rims are unflattering to the appearance of your truck. However, aluminum truck rims are easy to clean and maintain. Aluminum rims add to the quality and value of your truck. Truck rims should be cleaned on a regular basis with mild nonabrasive solvents to maximize the life and the quality of your rims.
Things You'll Need
- Rubber or latex gloves
- Mild soap
- Degreaser
- Water
- Wheel brush
- Mothers polish
- Soft towels

Remove wheels off of truck. Take all removable parts off of the wheels. Put on gloves.

Wash the wheel with soapy water. Use a wheel brush to remove the caked-on dirt, grime and brake dust off of rim. Clean every area you can reach.

Rinse the wheel. Pat the wheel dry with a soft cloth towel.

Pour the degreaser into a container. Soak towel in the degreaser . Rub the towel over the wheels several times until the wheels are clean from all stains. Use wheel brush to help remove the persistent stains and dirt.

Wash the wheels again with soap and water. Rinse them well. Dry the wheel completely with a soft towel.

Polish the wheel with a polish that is safe for aluminum like Mothers Polish. Repeat for the other truck rims.

Tips & Warnings
Use a mild degreaser that does not contain ammonia, anhydrous chemicals or acids.
Take extra care when cleaning the areas where the nuts, bolts and where the wheel connects to the hub.
