Directions for Using a Microscope
Microscopes are scientific tools used to look at objects under intense magnification. There are varying degrees of magnification for microscopes. Some microscopes are not very strong, while others can show the observer items on a cellular level. Using microscopes is fairly straightforward and does not vary that much with the varying degrees of magnification. Before you use a microscope, you need to know the parts of the microscope.

1
Put the microscope on a hard, flat surface. If you have to pick up the microscope to relocate it, hold the microscope by the arm and the base. The arm is the piece that connects the base to the eyepiece.
-
2
Place a piece of hair in between two microscope slides and press them together. Place the completed slide on the stage of the microscope. Hold the slide down with the stage clips.

3
Look through the eyepiece and switch the objectives to the desired magnification. Do not worry if the view is blurry at this time. Adjust the light or mirror until the hair is illuminated.
-
4
Turn the coarse adjustment knob until the hair comes into focus. You will have to turn this knob slowly. Once it is as clear as possible, move your hand lower to the fine adjustment knob until the image of the hair is crystal clear.
-
5
Remove the slide when you are done and wipe down the slides and the microscope with antibacterial wipes.
