How to Make a Quilt Display Board
Quilting is the technique of sewing fabric together to create geometric patterns and unique designs. The technique, which some experts believe dates back to ancient Egypt, has been used for centuries to create blankets that serve as decorative heirlooms. A quilt display board is used by modern quilters to plan the layout of their quilted designs. Quilters temporarily adhere fabric pieces on a large board and move the fabric about to experiment with patterns.

Cut the foam core or cardboard to the desired size of your display board with the utility knife. Cut the flannel or felt fabric to a rectangle five inches larger than the board on each side. Place and center the board over the wrong side of the fabric.

2
Fold the corners of the fabric towards the center of the board, hugging the edge tightly. Staple these corners down. Fold the excess fabric over the edges of the board, hugging the edges tightly. Staple these down so that the fabric is now firmly wrapped around the board.

Attach picture hanger hardware to the top of the board, with a hanger on each side and one in the center. Attach the other half of the hardware to the wall where you would like to hang the board, making sure to line up the spacing with the hardware on the board.

Hang the board on the wall. Use straight pins to pin fabric pieces directly to the board.

Tips & Warnings
Add a layer of batting between the flannel and the board for a surface that is even easier to pin.
Don't hang up your board until the glue from your stick-on picture-hanger hardware has fully dried.
