Routing and Remote Access is a set of services that is included with the Windows Server operating system. The services allow you to perform a wide range of network functions, such as setting up a VPN or dial-up server. When trying to use the Routing and Remote Access services, you may experience a problem where Windows displays a generic error message. You can troubleshoot this issue by reregistering the Routing and Remote Access registry values.

      Log on to your PC server with an account that has administrative privileges.

      Open the "Start" menu and click on the "Run" icon.

      Type "cmd" into the dialog box and hit "OK" to launch a blank command prompt window.

      Type in the letter of the drive where Windows is installed followed by a colon. For example, if Windows is installed on the C drive, you would type "C:" into the command prompt. Then choose "Enter."

      Type "cd program files\common files\system\ole db" into the command prompt and choose "Enter" again.

      Type "regsvr32 oledb32.dll" and press "Enter." This is the first registry value related to Routing and Remote Services that must be reregistered.

      Type "regsvr32 oledb32r.dll" and press "Enter" to reregister the other value.

      Click the "OK" button when you receive confirmation that the process has finished. Then close the command prompt window, restart your computer and begin using Routing and Remote Access again.
