How to Change a Wall-Mounted Shower Head

A new shower head can change your bathing experience.

Replacing your shower head can change your bathing experience. Many shower head options are available to improve water savings, adjust the spray intensity or add pulsating massage action. Regardless of the type of shower head you choose, installation is simple.

Things You'll Need

• Adjustable wrench
• Teflon thread tape

Instructions

1. Remove the existing shower head by rotating the base connection counterclockwise, using an adjustable wrench.

2. Clean any residual pipe dope or tape from the threads of the shower tube, if necessary, using a small wire brush.

3. Apply thread tape to the shower tube by wrapping the threads clockwise with three to four layers of tape.

4. Install the new shower head by threading the inlet connection clockwise onto the shower tube, then tightening the connection using an adjustable wrench.
