How to Make an 18T RC Car Fast

Building an 18T RC car is fun, but if it doesn't zip around the track, it might be kind of a letdown. That doesn't mean you should give up, however. With just a few simple changes or additions, you can make your 18T RC car go much faster, allowing you to win the race and go home the champion.

Things You'll Need

• Spray lubricant
• Battery or power supply

Instructions

1. Open your 18T RC car's body and inspect all the gears and movements for dirt or wear. Make sure all gears move smoothly and all parts are secure. Change out the grease you use inside your car with a lighter, oil-like lubricant like WD-40. This will allow gears and parts to move smoothly and will not gunk up over extended use.

2. Run your 18T RC car for a few hours on batteries or a direct power source. In this time, the brushes will shape themselves to the armature, allowing for less friction between the two and increasing performance.

3. Take the time to drive the car and learn how it handles the track. Learn all the turns and obstructions in your track to better maneuver and avoid things that will slow performance and your speed.

4. Replace heavy parts with lighter ones. Most parts on your 18T RC car could be replaced with much lighter, aluminum ones. Consider the shock towers, especially. Replace these with lighter aluminum shock towers to take weight and drag off of the motor and to improve performance.
