Garlic is an important ingredient in many cuisines. It also has numerous medicinal properties and is a beneficial addition to many dishes. However, it can be hard to store. Converting cloves of garlic to powdered form preserves them for longer periods of time and allows them to be stored in a compact container. Things You'll Need

  • Peeled garlic cloves
  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting board
  • Baking tray
  • Food processor
  • Airtight jar

Instructions

      Slice the garlic cloves quite thinly, so they are about 1/8 inch thick.

      Place the slices on the baking pan, one layer thick.

      Heat the oven to 150 F. Put the pan in the oven and let the slices cook for six to eight hours, until they are completely dry.

      Set the slices in the food processor and grind them until they turn into powder.

      Pour the powder into a sealed container and store in a dry, cool pantry.

  • One clove of garlic equals 1/8 tsp. garlic powder.
