How to Transfer Contacts From i880 to Q

Transferring contacts from one phone to another can become time-consuming if numerous contacts are located on the older phone. With Motorola, this task can be made easier by syncing the i1880 to the iDen phonebook software provided by Motorola, then transferring it to the Moto Q using ActiveSync, for smart phones running Windows Mobile Operating Systems. Both the iDen phonebook software and ActiveSync are available for free downloads. (See Resources.)

Instructions

    • 1

Download the "iDen Phonebook Manager" from the Motorola website. (See Resources.) After the download window says "Download Complete," double-click the file and follow the instructions on the installation wizard. Go to "Start," then "All Programs" on the computer, and select "iDen Phonebook Manager."

    • 2

Connect the i1880 to the computer using the USB cable.

    • 3

Select "Copy Phonebook" from the left menu.

    • 4

Open "Copy From Phone" from the left side in the copy phonebook menu.

    • 5

Click "OK." The phone book is copied to the computer. A message appears asking whether you want to transfer another phone book. Click "No" and the process is complete. Disconnect the phone.

    • 6

Connect the Moto Q to the computer using the USB cable. ActiveSync will open automatically. If it fails to open or is not on the computer, a free download is available from the Windows Mobile website. (See Resources.)

    • 7

Select "Contacts" from the lower menu in ActiveSync.

    • 8

Press "Sync" from the top toolbar in ActiveSync. When ActiveSync says "Synchronized," the sync is complete, it is OK to disconnect the phone, and the phonebook is located on the Moto Q.
