How to Fax to a Foreign Country

How to Fax to a Foreign Country thumbnail
Faxing internationally is not much different from faxing within your own country.

Although email is more prevalent in business today, there are still users who choose good old-fashioned faxing over its Internet companion. Faxing to a foreign country is really no different than faxing locally, only that you will need to dial additional numbers to reach the right destination. After you are sure you have the correct fax number, however, it is the same as making any other fax transmission.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the document into the fax machine, ensuring you place it either face up or face down depending on your particular fax machine. The machine will normally have an indication on the front advising which way to place the paper.

    • 2

Dial the number, including 011 (if dialing from the United States) and then the country code, on the keypad of the fax machine.

    • 3

Press "Send" and let the machine dial. Stay near the machine to ensure that you hear it transmit, especially if your machine does not generate a transmission receipt.

    • 4

Call the recipient to confirm receipt of your fax.

Tips & Warnings

  • Remember, dialing internationally from the United States, whether by telephone or fax, requires you to dial "011" first, then the country code and then the telephone or fax number of the recipient.
