How to Get a Grant Steering Wheel Off
Custom, aftermarket steering wheels are a popular upgrade for many cars and trucks. Grant is one of the many companies that makes a line of steering wheels that can be installed on just about any vehicle with the proper adapter. Removing a Grant steering wheel is a simple matter of unbolting the wheel from the adapter and then removing the adapter. This takes a minimum of tools and expertise and can be accomplished in a few minutes.

Remove the horn button by disconnecting the wires that plug into the back of it. The style of horn button will vary depending on the style of wheel. Some Grant wheels have a small center horn button that you can pry out, while others use a larger horn button that you can also carefully pry off.

Use a socket and ratchet to remove the bolts that hold the wheel to the Grant adapter hub. Grant wheels are installed on cars with an adapter that allows the wheel to fit on a variety of cars. There are usually either three or five bolts holding the wheel the adapter, and may be either Allen bolts or conventional bolts. Set the wheel and the bolts aside.

Use a socket and ratchet to remove the center nut that holds the Grant adapter to the car's steering column. You may need to use an adapter on the end of the socket to allow to it to reach the nut. Loosen the nut by turning it counter clockwise.

Pull the Grant hub adapter straight off from the steering column. You may need to use a steering wheel puller to remove the wheel. This tightens against the steering column and presses the hub adapter off of the column. As you remove the adapter, you may need to thread the horn wires through a hole in the adapter.
