How to Open Office Code Indenter

The OpenOffice code beautifying and indentation extension is called Code Formatter and along with indenting your code, the extension will colorize segments to make the source easier to read. Currently Code Formatter supports C++, C#, Perl, Python, Java, StarBasic and XML, but the development of the extension, as of November 2010, is active and the developer is open to adding more languages as users request. Code Formatter requires OpenOffice 3.1 or later to function properly.

Instructions

      Launch an additional Web browser tab or window and navigate to the extension's Website (see Resources).

      Launch OpenOffice from your Programs menu. Click "Tools," then "Extension Manager" to launch the extension management utility. Click the "Add" button to open a file browsing window.

      Navigate your hard drive to find the ".oxt" OpenOffice extension file. Click to select the file, then click the "OK" button.

      Click to select whether or not you want to install the extension for all users or just for the current user. Restart OpenOffice to begin using the Code Formatter extension.
