1
Clean out the area where the sump pump will be installed. This area should have at least 2 inches of standing water and be free from sand, small rocks or any debris that could clog the unit. This area should be on a hard surface or inside a bucket with holes drilled into the side for the water to enter.

2
Attach the garden hose to the sump pump with the fittings provided. Run the other end of the hose outdoors to an area where the water will drain away from the home.

3
Plug the Simer sump pump power cord into the nearest properly grounded outlet, using the grounded extension cord if necessary. The pump should start pumping the water.

4
Verify the hose connection is not leaking and that the water is being discharged out of the other end of the hose. Make sure this discharged water flows away from the house. Monitor the unit until the water is gone to verify that it is working correctly.

Tips & Warnings
Dig a hole into the floor surface if necessary to remove the water in extreme flooding cases.
The longer the discharge hose, the longer it will take to remove the water.
Wrap the discharge hose with weather stripping insulation when exposed to freezing weather.
Make sure the unit is only attached to a properly grounded outlet.
Failure to monitor the unit through its first cycle to ensure it is working properly could cause damage to the unit.
If you have frequent and major flooding problems, consult a professional or consider adding a French drainage system around the house.
