The DSR505 is a digital satellite TV receiver manufactured by Motorola. The unit is equipped with audio-video output jacks for connecting to another component, such as a TV, or to a digital video recorder for capturing shows on an internal hard drive. Hooking up a DVR to the DSR505 requires a component video cable and a standard stereo cable with two RCA plugs on each end. The color-coded plugs match the jack connections on the Motorola DSR505 and the DVR.

Instructions

    • 1

      Connect the red, blue and green plugs on each end of the component video cable from the component video outputs on the back of the DSR505 to the video inputs on the rear of the DVR. Each plug matches a jack color.

      Insert the white and red plugs on each end of the stereo cable into the audio outputs on the DSR505 and the inputs on the DVR.

      Turn on the power to both components.

      Press the channel selector button on the front of the DSR505 to the desired station for recording on the DVR.

      Press the "Record" button on the DVR remote control to begin recording programming on the chosen channel.
