Hoover Steamvac Operating Instructions

The Hoover SteamVac is a residential carpet cleaner. The machine operates by spraying cleaning solution and water on the carpet, scrubbing it deep into the fibers and suctioning it up. This leaves the carpet clean and relatively dry. Keeping your carpet clean this way helps limit the amount of dust mites, mold spores and other contaminates that are living in your carpet. Instructions

    • 1

      Press down on the tank handle to unlock it from the machine. Pull the tank out and carry it to the sink.

      Twist the tank cap counterclockwise to remove it from the top of the tank.

      Fill the cap with cleaning solution up to the indicated line on the cap. Pour the cleaning solution into the tank.

      Fill the tank with hot tap water to the indicator line on the tank. Close the tank by twisting the cap back on it, and put the tank into the machine.

      Plug the machine in and turn it on by stepping on the pedal on the left side of the back of the machine.

      Press the trigger and push the cleaner over one area and then pull it back over the other area. Keep the trigger pressed as you make the two passes. This distributes the cleaning solution and water and brushes it into the carpet.

      Press the clean surge button on the top of the handle to release more cleaning solution and water if you are scrubbing over a stained area.

      Release the trigger and repeat the two passes. This activates the suction, which vacuums up the cleaning solution and water.

      Continue cleaning the carpet. Turn the machine off and fill the tank when it become empty and stops spraying.

      Turn the machine off when the dirty tank is full. Remove the clean solution tank and set it aside.

      Step on the handle release bar and lower the handle to the floor.

      Open the latches around either side of the dirty tank to unlock it. Pull the tank out.

      Open the dirty tank lid by unlatching the top. Pour out the dirty water.

      Close the lid and lock the latches. Put the tank back on the machine and lock it on the machine. Lift the tank handle and replace the clean water tank.

Tips & Warnings

  • Overlap passes to ensure that you don't leave streaks of dirty carpet.
