How to Reset Procedure for 2006 Chevy Malibu Antitheft System

The antitheft system on a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu is activated whenever the doors are locked using the keyless entry remote. This system is designed to prevent the vehicle from being operated by an unauthorized user. The antitheft system uses the horn and lights to draw attention to the vehicle to discourage would-be thieves. Occasionally, this system needs to be reset when the alarm is triggered accidentally. Instructions

1. Stand outside the vehicle with the keyless entry remote. Press and hold both the lock and unlock buttons of the remote at the same time.

2. Release the lock and unlock buttons once the horn honks and the lights flash briefly.

3. Insert the ignition key into the ignition and turn it to the "ON" position. Do not start the engine.

4. Allow the ignition to remain in the "ON" position for 30 seconds.

5. Start the engine and verify that the security light is not illuminated. The antitheft system is now reset.
