Instructions

    • 1

Measure 3 inches from the edge of the wood, and mark with a pencil where the feet will be installed. Drill a hole through the plywood for the feet. Slide the bolt that is attached to the feet through the hole. Secure with a wing nut.

    • 2

Turn the plywood base over, and rest it on its feet. Set a level on top of the plywood. Insert shims between the feet and plywood if needed to make the ottoman level.

    • 3

Lay the plywood top down on the foam padding. Trace around the perimeter of the plywood with a marker. Cut along the marked line with a utility knife to trim the foam.

    • 4

Lay out your fabric, and set the batting across the fabric. Put the trimmed foam padding on top of the batting and then set the plywood base on top of the foam.

    • 5

Cut the fabric and batting with scissors so it will fold over the sides of the ottoman with 3 inches of extra fabric along the bottom of the ottoman.

    • 6

Fold the fabric and batting around the plywood base. Staple the fabric and batting to the bottom of the ottoman with a staple gun. Insert a staple every 4 inches all the way around the ottoman.

Tips & Warnings

  • Paint or stain the ottoman legs before attaching to the plywood base. They will be easier to paint. Touch up any scuff marks after the ottoman is assembled.
