Instructions

  1. De-Clutter

    • 1

Gather all of your paperwork including junk mail, bills, memos, handwritten notes and lists. Examine each piece of paper and separate it into two piles. One pile should be the "shred" pile and the other should be your "keep" pile.

    • 2

Put away the paperwork you want to keep in a file or other appropriate place. Send the shred pile through a paper shredder.

    • 3

Dump the shredded documents in a recycling bag.

    • 4

Throw out your trash. Look around the entire office and throw out anything that should be discarded, such as a dead office plant or non-working cords and old broken phones. Dump your office trash bin as well.

    • 5

Put items that do not belong in your office into a storage box. Items such as holiday gifts from co-workers, food containers or any item that just doesn't fit should be taken home or to another room where it belongs.

    Cleaning The Office

    • 6

Spray your keyboard, phone and any other object that has cracks and crevices with a can of compressed air. This will dislodge accumulated dust and crumbs.

    • 7

Wipe all of your office surfaces, equipment and desktop supplies or decorations with a dust cloth.

    • 8

Spray soiled surfaces with an all-purpose disinfecting cleaner and wipe dry with paper towels.

    • 9

Dampen a rag with the disinfecting cleaner and wipe the walls to remove dust and air pollutant build-up.

    • 10

Vacuum your floors, drapes and office furniture with a vacuum and upholstery attachments.

    • 11

Use a carpet shampooer to clean the carpets once they have been vacuumed. This will eliminate embedded dirt and give your carpet a fresh smell. Follow the instructions on the machine carefully, as each manufacturer is different. If you do not have the cost of buying such a machine in your budget, rent one at a hardware store.

    • 12

Deep clean office furniture with the upholstery attachments on the carpet shampooer.

    • 13

Launder or dry clean any fabric drapes that you have and wipe your blinds with disinfectant and paper towels.

    • 14

Clean your windows inside and out with glass cleaner. Vacuum out the window tracks with a vacuum attachment.

    • 15

Give the office bathrooms a thorough cleaning. Clean all surfaces, floors and fixtures with disinfecting cleaner, and the bathroom mirrors with glass cleaner.
