How to Revive Segway Batteries

The Segway Personal Transporter is an electric mobility device that allows a person to traverse cities, towns, college campuses and even dirt paths by leaning in the direction in which he wishes to travel. The Segway uses gyroscopes and an electric motor, a platform with two wheels and handle bars atop its "LeanSteer" bar to transport the rider where he desires. The device is powered with two lithium ion batteries which must be revived periodically.

Instructions

    • 1

Expose the Charge Port by opening cover. The Charge Port is located on the back of the Balance Indicator console and is opened from the top.

    • 2

Insert the power cord into the Segway. One end of the power cord is keyed to fit into the device.

    • 3

Plug the other end of the power cord into the wall outlet. The other end of the power cord looks like a standard grounded electrical plug. This plug must be inserted into a standard wall outlet.

    • 4

Review the Charge Indicator lights to make sure they green. The Charge Indicator lights are the two lights below the Balance Indicator lights on the middle console. When the Charge Indicator lights blink green, then charging is complete.

    • 5

Remove the power cord from the Charge Port and the wall when finished. Close the Charge Port by pushing the cover up until it snaps in place. Once your Segway is fully charged, the batteries are revived and it is ready to use.

Tips & Warnings

  • Segway recommends that you charge the batteries for 12 hours when you are charging it for the first time, and repeat this process once a month.
