How do I Start a Nitro Car? thumbnail
Following a few easy steps will allow you to start your RC Nitro car with little effort.

Radio controlled, or RC, cars are a popular hobby that attracts children and adults alike. Nitro-powered engines are simply gas-powered engines and operate by combustion. Unlike their electronic counterparts, to start a Nitro car's combustion engine, you must do more than simply turn the power on. There are several means you can use to start your RC Nitro car, depending on how the car is equipped, or if you decide to modify it at all.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the glow plug igniter into an outlet and let it charge for 12 hours. Make sure the igniter is fully charged before you attempt to use it.

    • 2

Check the batteries in the car and the transmitter. Make sure the batteries are charged or are new if you are not using rechargeable batteries.

    • 3

Insert the fuel can into the fuel port on the car. Squeeze the fuel can to fill your car's tank.

    • 4

Make sure the air filter is in place before you start the car.

    • 5

Turn on the transmitter. Turn on the receiver on the Nitro car. Test the transmitter by moving the directional sticks to make sure the car wheels respond properly.

    • 6

Prime your car's fuel system. Place your index finger over the exhaust outlet on the tailpipe. Pull on the starter cord a few times until you see fuel enter the fuel line. Stop once the fuel reaches the carburetor.

    • 7

Place the glow plug igniter onto the car's glow plug and hold it there. Pull the starter cord with your other hand. Yank the starter cord using quick, short pulls until the engine turns over and starts. Give the car more fuel by moving the throttle up to 1/4 level if you have trouble starting the engine.

    • 8

Remove the glow plug igniter once the engine starts and is running normally.
