Instructions

    • 1

Wipe the area with warm water and a clean cloth if you have just accidentally painted acrylic paint into another painted surface. You may be able to simply wipe the accidental paint coating away if it has not yet dried.

    • 2

For dried paint, mix 2 parts white vinegar with 2 parts ammonia and 1 part salt in a bowl or cup.

    • 3

Dip a sponge or soft cloth into the cleaning solution.

    • 4

Scrub the area where you want to remove the acrylic paint gently at first. If you need to scrub harder with the sponge or cloth, do so, but be mindful that you don't want to remove or scratch the other painted surface.

    • 5

Apply a tablespoon of clear alcohol to another sponge or cloth if the water solution or the mixture of vinegar and ammonia do not work. Scrub the area again with the alcohol until the acrylic paint is gone.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your acrylic paint has contaminated another surface that has been painted with acrylic paint, you may not be able to remove the paint without also removing the other acrylic painted surface. Try to press very gently with the cloth, removing the unwanted acrylic paint in layers. When you reach the painted surface that you do not want to remove, gently dab the surface with a clean cloth. Keep in mind that you may not be able to remove one without removing the other.
