How to Use Excel XML & XSLT
Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet and data storage application that is used to store information in a tabular format. Excel is included with various versions of the Microsoft Office productivity suite. By default, Excel utilizes the .xls or .xlsx file format, but it is able to understand and create many other file formats. Among these is the .xml file type, which is useful for the ease with which multiple applications can understand its data. Typically, Excel will attempt to force a format on any .xml file it converts, unless the .xml file has a particular format associated with it by means of an .xslt file.

Tips & Warnings
Certain versions of Excel 2003 (Excel Professional and above), as well as Excel 2007 and newer, are able to import an .xml file without an .xslt file attached. If the .xml file references an .xslt file, then it can still be used, but it is not necessary.
